- Training Dr May graduated from TCD medical school in 1969. After completing his intern year in Dublin, Dr May moved to South Africa in 1970.
He worked for 18 months at Frere Hospital, East London, South Africa, rotating through various specialities including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and General Medicine. He worked as a GP locum for some months, and then, in a large practice attached to Germiston Hospital, where he acquired a wealth of practical experience.
On his return to Ireland in 1973, he joined his father’s practice in Clontarf before setting up Portmarnock GP Clinic in October 1973. Having been instrumental in establishing a thriving practice, Dr May has worked tirelessly for the community for close to 40 years. He is now beginning to ease his way in to a well- deserved retirement, but continues to be an important part of the practice seeing patients on a weekly basis.
